PHONICS FLUENCY COMPETITION (VOL.1)

Phonics Fluency Competition, Held on Tuesday 7th November, 2023.

The program was supposed to start in the school hall immediately after the pupils' assembly. The prayer and the moderation for the day were done before the pupils were asked to move to the school hall with their 'Word Bank' and writing materials.  Rev. Sr. Francisca Faluru said the opening prayer before the contestants for the competition were called to occupy the seats provided for them at the front. The competition started with the first round tagged 'Accent Stage',  where the pupils' fluency in word pronunciation was tested. The contestants were given three words each to pronounce after which we proceeded to the next stage titled 'Intonation Stage', where pupils' reading fluency was tested. The results were thereafter collated by the recorders to be able to choose the qualifiers for the third stage tagged 'The Oratory Stage'. The third stage was postponed to a later day because of a shortage of time. The programme was put to a close at around 10:30 am. The pupils were then dismissed to go to their respective classes for their meals and the day's activities.

On the 14th of November, the concluding part of the competition was carried out with lots of momentum built up by the contestants. The third stage was done which led the Recorders to pick the final winners of the competition who were later awarded at the assembly with gifts and words of encouragement by the Headteacher herself.
